Giving Tuesday 2025...Please Give so Kids and Young Adults with Special Needs Have a Team to call their Own!
A day of giving that allows ODS to continue building friendship, community and acceptance through sports
Giving Tuesday, December 2, 2025 is a day where individuals, families, organizations, and businesses in all 50 states, and in countries around the world, come together to support the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live, beginning right here in Metro DC.
Like so many organizations, big or small, Open Door Sports depends on the generosity of our community to fulfill our mission and provide our programs free of charge to children and young adults with disabilities as well as their peer buddy volunteers. Because of this generosity, ODS has achieved a great deal in the past year:
- Launched our Game Day competitive basketball program for young adults in the spring of 2025 to give our older athletes a real game-like environment to compete in.
- Launched our first adapted golf clinics in spring 2025 and first flag football program in summer 2025.
- Expanded our young adult program to now include basketball, soccer, bocce, and flag football.
- Created and launched the P2C (Player to Coach) job and leadership development program to give our older teens who are interested in working for ODS the training and confidence to do so.
- Expanded our developmental program to Bannockburn Elementary in Fall 2025 and St. Bartholomew Catholic School in Winter 2026.
We're thankful to our participant and peer buddy families for entrusting their kids to us. We are proud of the work we do and, with your continued support, know we can do so much more.
Open Door Sports was founded to make a positive impact in the lives of children with disabilities and to help each child maximize their potential. Can we count on you today to help us make a difference?
